WHO WE SEE

At Young Stars Therapies we specialise in Neurological Paediatric Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Aquatic Therapy. The assessment and treatment of  Neurodevelopmental Conditions and Brain injury, including:

  • Babies and young children born prematurely or with a traumatic birth history and at high risk of a neurological condition.

  • Neurodevelopmental conditions or suspected including Cerebral Palsy, Acquired Brain Injury

  • Pre / Post Surgery, Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) or Botulinum Toxin (Botox) rehabilitation.

  • Neuromuscular Disorders.

  • Erb's Palsy or Shoulder Dystonia 

If you have a neurological concern regarding your child and it is not listed above, please contact us to see if we can help your child.

We see children who live within 60 minutes of each of our different bases. This means we can cover most of South London and Kent.

Aquatic Physiotherapy Sessions

Where: Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, SE15 5QN

 

When:​

 Saturday afternoons 

  • 15:00-16:00 Family Disability session

  • 17:00-18:00 Vulnerable Disability swim session

 

Sunday afternoons

  • 15:00-16:00 Family disability swim session

 

How long:

  • 30 minutes single session

  • 60 minutes double session

 

Cost:

  • £60 for 30-minute session payable to Young Stars Therapies

  • Family will also need to log on to the Peckham Pulse website to prebook the swim sessions up to 6 days in advance when the sessions come online. https://southwarkleisure.co.uk/swimming/

  • Adult swim £5.70, child swim £2.40 payable to Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre when booking in advance

Lucy - Founder & Physiotherapist

Lucy Gray MSc Advancing Paediatric Practice (Physiotherapy), BSc Hons Physiotherapy, HCPC, MCSP, Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists , Advanced MAES & Advanced Bobath Trained Neurodevelopmental Therapist. Enhanced DBS Checked.

Lucy is the founder of Young Stars Therapies and is a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist with over 20 years experience in the NHS and private sector. 

Lucy has expert knowledge in the field of Paediatric Neurodisability and childhood development, with a strong portfolio of specialist training including the innovative MAES approach and Advanced Bobath Training. Young Stars Therapies was established to offer the very best assessment, advice and care for Children & Young People and their families, based on the latest evidenced-based practice.

Lucy is based in Sevenoaks in Kent, offering physiotherapy services in South London and Kent. 

Lucy has a passion to ensure that we learn the full potential of each child together and to support the child and family through their journey 

 

We travel to treat children and young people within 60 minutes from each of our bases

We offer sessions throughout the week, including after school and during school holidays.

Joanne - Physiotherapist

Joanne Nichols, BSc Hons Physiotherapy, HCPC, Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists, MAES and Bobath trained Neurodevelopmental Physiotherapist. Enhanced DBS checked. 
Joanne is a Highly Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist with over 12 years of experience as a Paediatric Physiotherapist, and 18 years in total working with Children and Young People in the NHS and Private sector. Joanne has specialist knowledge in the field of Paediatric Neurodisability and childhood development, with an extensive background of specialist training including MAES Therapy and Bobath. Joanne is committed to working with Children and Young People and their families to provide physiotherapy specific to the child's needs, and helping them to achieve functional outcomes.

Joanne is based in Plumstead, South East London

Sarah - Physiotherapist & Aquatic Therapist

Sarah has been providing physiotherapy for children and young people for over 25 years in roles within the NHS and in private practice. She has significant experience working with children from 0-19 with developmental delay, genetic syndromes or long-term neurological conditions and has completed various post graduate courses including Bobath, Bath hydrotherapy and Maes therapy. She is passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve their individual movement goals and has a special interest in aquatic therapy.

Sarah is based in Shirley, South London

Stacy - Occupational Therapist

  ​Stacy is a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist with over 20 years experience in the NHS, Local Authority and private sectors. Stacy has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in children's Occupational Therapy assessment and therapy provision across the full age ranges from neonatal care to young adults. Stacy has specialist experience in neurodevelopmental care, management of long-term conditions & genetic syndromes and complex postural management assessments. She works in both mainstream and special schools, nurseries and home environments. 

 

Stacy has the following specialist training:- 24 hour postural management- DMO lycra assessment- MAES therapy- Sensory Integration Module 1- Zones of Regulation- Therapeutic listening- Splinting of the upper limb- Dynamic splinting of the upper limb- Cerebral Palsy Integrated Pathway (CPIP) trainer- Forest School Leader.

Stacy finds so much enjoyment through the diversity in her role and makes sure her therapy sessions are fun and engaging for the young person. She works closely with the child's family, carers and wider support system so that interventions are tailored to their individual needs.​

 

Stacy is based in Ashford, Kent and also covers South East London

Daphne - Occupational Therapist

 

Daphne is a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist, having worked within the National Health Service and private practice. Daphne has a wealth of experience in the assessment of both children with various levels of need, including multiple and complex disabilities. Daphne has specialist interests in neurological disorders, postural management, equipment, sensory needs, upper limb function and play.   

 

Daphne has specialist skills in neurological conditions, complex postural management, equipment and seating provision, powered mobility, functional skills training and Sensory Integration. She also works part-time at a school for those with highly complex medical and therapy needs. She is also a Paralympic Classifier! .

SESSION FEES

INITIAL ASSESSMENTS

£135

A stand alone thorough and detailed face to face initial assessment will take up to 1 hour and will focus in on the priorities for you and your child and provide clear verbal advice and strategies

If required a formal Initial Assessment Report and Recommendations can be added to the Initial assessment package for a total package price of £350 

 

All visits will incur additional mileage and travel time costs 

Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer following invoice

FOLLOW UP SESSIONS

£110

Face to face follow up sessions will be planned with you as required to ensure we reach your child's full potential. Sessions will be 45 - 60 minutes

Further charges will apply for any written reports requested, attending meetings and formal liaison with other professionals. 

We require a minimum of 24 hours cancellation notice otherwise the full session fee will be charged

Virtual sessions via Zoom can now be offered for initial assessments or follow up sessions
